CELTIC host Manchester City in the latest instalment of the ‘Battle of Britain’.
The pair have never met in European competition before — before English and Scottish teams have enjoyed plenty of feisty encounters.

Manchester United, Liverpool and even Rangers have met plenty of times before.
Brendan Rodgers will have to go some to get one over on Pep Guardiola, but the favourite doesn’t always prevail.
Here are seven past meetings.
Aberdeen 0 Liverpool 4 — 1979-80

IN 2015-16, this would actually be considered a decent result for Aberdeen.
But back when Sir Alex Ferguson was boss, they were a good team.
Aberdeen provided arguably Europe’s biggest-ever shock when they beat Bayern Munich and Real Madrid as they won the Uefa Cup Winners’ Cup victory in 1983 — and caused an even bigger shock by winning the Scottish title in 1980.
But a Willie Miller own goal, as well as strikes from Phil Neal, Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen condemned the Scots to a humiliating 5-0 aggregate defeat, and the Anfield giants went on to win the European Cup.

Leeds 1 Rangers 2 — 1992-93

HOWARD WILKINSON’S men were England’s representatives in the first-ever Champions League campaign.
Leeds only even reached the second round because Stuttgart had fielded an ineligible player — despite the Germans winning the tie on away goals.
But Rangers were just too strong, winning 2-1 home and away.
Goals from Mark Hateley and Ally McCoist in the second leg at Elland Road meant Eric Cantona’s late reply was a mere consolation.
Celtic 1 Liverpool 1 — 2002-03

THOUGH this was only the first leg of a Uefa Cup tie, it will always be remembered — but for the wrong reasons.
Henrik Larsson and Emile Heskey completed the scoring within 17 minutes, before El Hadji Diouf stole the headlines.
The controversial Senegalese attacker spat at a fan in the closing stages, to earn a reputation that would stay with him forever.
Celtic won 2-0 at Anfield in the return and made it all the way to the final, where they lost 3-2 against Jose Mourinho’s Porto.
Rangers 0 Manchester United 1 — 2003-04

THIS was one of the most highly anticipated European clashes in recent memory.
Not least because United were not that good at the time and an upset was genuinely on the cards.
However, the game failed to live up to expectations.
And, just to emphasise the dearth in quality, Phil Neville scored the only goal of the game.
